Sepia Saturday 140 - wedding joy

I'm a few days late joining in this one but I really wanted to share my wedding pictures with you all.
Well what a hard act to follow that lovely photo is, on Sepia Saturday this week.
My contribution may not be as stylish and fun as that but these photos are very special to me.  This is my parents wedding day, 4th August 1953.

Harry Turnbull & Joyce Brazier
Check out the grand cake they had but dont be fooled as it was just a fake shell. there was one small sponge cake underneath the final bottom tier and that apparently was dry!
Such were the times back then.

Their marriage lasted for 18 years until my dad sadly died at the very young age of 47. My mum never married again or even had anything to do with another man.

I think they made a lovely couple.

WW2 Civilian death in my tree

Louisa Mary Rolfe 1881-1942

On Tuesday 5th May 1942 an evening exercise being undertaken by members of the 6th Battalion of the Essex Home Guard went disastrously wrong when an unexpected explosion claimed the life of Louisa and also injured fourteen other people, some seriously.
